HIDIVE announced that it will begin streaming the first 12 episodes of the Karakuri Circus anime on its website. The Karakuri Circus anime will stream in Japanese with English subtitles on HIDIVE’s streaming website. No English dub has been confirmed for the website at the time of this writing.
Currently, Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and released it on home video. The story for the anime is described as:
Following his father’s untimely demise, Marasu Saiga inherits the family fortune as well as his father’s company. Too bad he also inherited a target on his back since his unscrupulous relatives want to murder Masaru and take what’s rightfully his! The only thing standing between Masaru and assassination is a sickly clown named Narumi Kato, a white hair girl named Shirogane who claims she’s Masaru’s guardian, and the mysterious puppet left to Masaru by his father upon his death.
The anime first premiered in Japan in October 2018. Amazon Prime is streaming anime in Japan and overseas.
Karakuri Circus: A Long Running Story and Mystery
Karakuri Circus is currently animated by Studio VLON (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas). Satoshi Nishimura (Trigun) directed the anime with Takahiro Yoshimatsu (2011 Hunter x Hunter) designing the characters. Toshiki Inoue and the original manga author Kazuhiro Fujita handled the series scripts. There are 36 episodes of the anime version of Karakuri Circus, and a remastered Blu-ray version is available for purchase.
Fujita first published Karakuri Circus in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1997 to 2006, and Shogakukan published 43 volumes of the manga. Shogakukan published the manga in a new wide edition with 23 volumes from 2011 to 2013. Altogether, the story has more than 400 chapters including an official guidebook published by Shogakukan.
As of now, the manga has more than 15 million copies in print and circulation. As of now, there is no website to officially purchase an English version of the manga.
