'The Day Before' Release Date Pushed Back As Zombie MMO Gets 'Blocked' On Steam

Upcoming zombie MMO The Day Before was recently announced as an Xbox Series X|S title, although its console release was always planned to arrive at some point after the PC version. Well, new revelations have now come to light, and it looks like The Day Before is, oddly enough, not happening anytime soon.

Developer Fntastic has taken to Twitter to announce that the PC release date, which was previously set as March 1st, is now delayed until November 10th. That seems normal enough right; a roughly eight-month delay? Well, not when you see the reasoning behind the postponement.

The team says that the game has been “blocked” on PC platform Steam due to a trademarking issue. Basically, Fntastic never trademarked the name ‘The Day Before’, and just a month out from launch, the studio has has found out that someone else has already filed a trademark for that very name.

We must admit, the reasoning behind this lengthy delay looks questionable, especially considering the game’s PC launch is just weeks away and the team still hasn’t showcased any uncut gameplay. Still, we’re intrigued to see what happens next with this one, whether it reappears with a brand-new name, and when we might see evidence of the Xbox version.

Although we’ve not seen any raw footage of The Day Before, the team did recently show off a short gameplay trailer for the PC version, revealing support for ray tracing and Nvidia DLSS 3 upscaling technology.
